Faculty

The UBC Architecture TOKYO programme is executively produced by George Wagner, Professor of Architecture at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

For the 2006 program, Professor Wagner is joined in Tokyo by Atsushi Aiba and Souhei Imamura. Portions of the studio are also jointly taught by Fumio Matsumoto of the University of Tokyo.

George Wagner
B.A. Bard College, M.Arch University of Washington. Has taught at Rhode Island Schhol of Design 1982-87; Harvard University, Graduate School of Design 1987-93, and UBC School of Architecture since 1993. Publications include monographs on Thom Mayne, Stanley Saitowitz, and Barkow Lebinger, and articles in AAFiles, Harvard Architecture Review, Perspecta, and Harvard Design Magazine. He is the Director of the UBC Architecture TOKYO 2006 programme.

Atsushi Aiba
B.Arch Rhode Island School of Design, M.Sc. from Columbia University. Steven Holl Architects 1987-1988, Arata Isozaki & Associates 1988-2001, established APE Architects in 2002. Taught design with the UBC Architecture TOKYO 2004 and 2006 programmes.

Souhei Imamura
B.Arch Waseda University, Architectural Association 1990-92. Itsuko Hasegawa Atelier 1993-2001, Atelier Imamu since 2002. Frequent lectures and publications. Taught Contemporary Architecture in Tokyo with UBC Architecture TOKYO 2004 and 2006. http://park16.wakwak.com/~prospector/

Fumio Matsumoto
